Security
Safeguarding your server — and your peace of mind — are important to us. That’s why we’ve added new security features to cPanel/WHM 11.25. Our security token system helps prevent cross-site request forgery (XSRF) attacks by appending URLs with a session token. We’ve also changed the way cPanel handles blank referer checks, to make them more accurate. If a page is sent inside an existing session with a blank referer, it will trigger an XSRF prevention page.

DNS Clustering Enhancements
We’ve made a number of improvements to our DNS clustering utility. The system now syncs and deletes zones in batches, minimizing the server’s memory consumption during DNS synchronization. We’ve also added a feature that will automatically disable servers in the cluster which repeatedly fail to respond to DNS commands, preventing outdated information from being sent to up-to-date servers when the unresponsive server is restored. Plus, we’ve simplified reconfiguring and restarting BIND into a single call, speeding up the process.
XML API Updates
cPanel/WHM 11.25 expands your ability to integrate custom applications with our software by offering 14 additional XML API functions. In addition, the brand new JSON API provides a way of receiving output from any XML API function in JSON format, making it easier than ever to automate WHM and cPanel functions from custom Javascript apps. Along with these new features, we’ve improved the overall speed of our API functions, making integration faster and more flexible than in previous versions of cPanel/WHM.

Improved IMAP Support for Mobile Devices
Version 11.25 provides a number of enhancements that improve access to our software via mobile devices. For example, cPanel/WHM will use cookie instead of HTTP authentication with compatible devices, which will reduce the number of authentication requests by up to 50% in many cases. We’ve also added support for IMAP IDLE for Dovecot mail servers, allowing near-real-time email delivery to your mobile device.
Refined User Interfaces
cPanel users will benefit from a quick-loading cPanel home page, as well as improvements to the Email Accounts interface. This screen has been streamlined, making it easier to use and faster than ever before.
11.25 also includes a simpler, faster password validation system that unifies client and server password strength ratings, for greater consistency and reliability.

Optimized Apache
In previous versions of cPanel/WHM, tasks such as using the Tweak Settings feature would cause Apache to restart multiple times. Version 11.25 allows Apache to queue restart requests, minimizing the number of times Apache will be restarted. We’ve also improved httpd.conf generation times, making Apache configuration faster than ever before.
Additional Features
Performance
Lightening the load on your server
The latest version of cPanel/WHM provides a host of enhancements which can lighten server load, resulting in faster response times. For example, RoundCube webmail can now operate using the lightweight SQLite database engine, and we’ve made the cPanel log daemon (cpanellogd) more robust, preventing delays in log processing — and a resulting over-consumption of memory — due to missing dependencies. Plus, you can now configure account transfers between servers to skip the user's home directory, which can greatly speed up the transfer time, and account creation is faster, due to a more efficient httpd.conf generation process.
Mail upgrades
Several improvements will affect your mail server. We’ve optimized the Courier and Dovecot mail server authentication libraries, to reduce authentication engine memory usage and startup time, and we’ve increased the efficiency of mail delivery. Exim’s quota lookup process has been streamlined, for faster response times. In addition, Exim is now able to use a single process to listen on multiple ports, reducing RAM and CPU usage.
Ease of use
Enhancements for resellers and administrators
Resellers will benefit from finely tuned bandwidth usage metrics that include more accurate graphs. Bandwidth usage data is now retained for 10 years while incurring minimal disk usage overhead. And WHM’s new Web Template Editor lets you customize the pages your visitors see in different circumstances, such as when a web page has moved or hasn’t yet been configured. In addition, resellers with large numbers of user accounts will enjoy quicker access to the WHM home page, thanks to a more efficient data retrieval process.
Meanwhile, server administrators will notice the server’s short hostname in the WHM title bar (for example, the WHM interface for server1.example.com would display “server1”), making it much easier to manage multiple servers at once from a web browser.
Language system improvements
cPanel’s language system has also been overhauled, to incorporate a much more accurate, locale-based framework that uses less server memory and loads more quickly. It’s also more compatible with languages that are written right-to-left.
Upcoming Features
In the near future, minor releases of cPanel/WHM 11.25 will add useful new features, including:
An updated security policy that allows you to limit password ages. You’ll also be able to activate a Source IP Check feature, which will prompt users to answer security questions when they log in from a new IP.
A new Message Center. This feature lets server owners communicate with resellers and customers directly via the cPanel interface. You can even target messages to users based on the hosting package assigned to them, or the features to which they have access.
